Single mum Tania is living on struggle street. She’s working two jobs, raising two kids on her own and like many Australians she can’t afford to pay the mortgage. Her situation is so dire, the bank has threatened to take the house, unless she can sell up and clear her mountain of debts. After five stressful months on the market, Tania is still without a buyer. She first listed for $850,000, dropping by $50,000 a few months later. Trouble is, the market is falling faster than Tania’s expectations. Her only option is to go to auction – and listen to any offers she gets. Will Tania see sense, or will she stick firm on price and risk losing everything?

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE RENOVATION?

I thought that Tania was looking for a free makeover. She didn't look like a woman that was working two jobs, rather a woman who was spending everyday working out in the gym given her muscles. She said she had no family or friends to hep her but then their were people who came to the auction with her including some guy who was either her brother or her boyfriend. I heard her say at the auction that if she didn't sell, she was put it on rent as an investment property. She was clearly just milking the show and laying on the struggling single mother act which she clearly wasn't. Please help needy people selling houses, not these liars and users!!

I thought the front yard improvements were striking, and the strategy of focusing most of the limited landscaping budget on that worked well. The interior mods were good, esp kitchen and bathroom. While I'm not at all knowledgeable about renos, I wondered about plaster sheet over the brick in the lounge areas. Why is a flat plaster effect better than painted brick? I thought the double roller blinds were brilliant - first time I've seen those. Tania came across with a lot of warm charm, but her tough obstinate approach to selling price in the end was surprising, the more so in the context of a very stressful debt situation as described. Maybe she was laying it on a bit about being in a difficult financial situation? However, have to admit her dug in approach got her a 45 grand higher offer. I 've heard that some R/E markets are improving, so maybe her luck will hold. But it will be down to luck and I agree she did not appear very reasonable about settling a price. God I wouldn't want to go through a divorce settlement with her. Just generally, I really enjoy these shows and the regulars. Curiosity about whether Tania got her price brought me to the site here and to comment. I'm not into houses, decoration, renos, or R/E investment. No aptitude for it. For me the show's all about different human personalities reacting in their own ways to hopes and fears, skillful transformations, and the rescuers delivering a better prospect in the end. Like a mundane adult fairy tale where there are travails but always a good transformational ending.

I liked the renovation - but I agree with Cocoboo...... Tania ended up being greedy- it urked me that, although she was offered only five grand under what she wanted in the end, she was still "thinking about it" - she didn't look too worried at the end of the episode, playing football. Maybe the renovation should have gone to someone more deserving.
